- Post-Worship Refreshments are offered at various times throughout the year, including ice cream in the spring, lemonade and popsicles in the summer, apple cider in the fall, and hot chocolate in the winter.
- The Church Fellowship Table is always staffed with friendly volunteers and delicious goodies every Sunday morning from 9:20 to 10:50 am.
SMALL AND LARGE GROUPS
Book Clubs: Our Afternoon Book Club meets on the last Wednesday of every month from 1-2:30 pm and the Evening Book Club gathers on the third Wednesday of every month from 6:30-8 pm in The Bride’s Room. Both groups read and discuss a variety of thought-provoking books by best-selling authors.
Dinner for Eight: A mix of members meet for dinner at various restaurants in Gwinnett County (Duluth, Johns Creek and Suwanee). It’s a great time for breaking bread, conversation and getting to know new people.
Moms at La Madeleine: On the 3rd Sunday of the month, mothers of infants through elementary school children are invited to meet at La Madeleine on Pleasant Hill Road for a kid-free time of food and fellowship. Childcare and a kid-friendly lunch is provided upon request.
Special Community Events: Throughout the year we hold symposiums in our Sanctuary or Fellowship Hall that address issues that affect the community. In previous years, we’ve hosted seminars on mental health, caregiving for dementia and the ethics of health care.
Theater & Theology: Throughout the year, Rev. Jody Andrade invites the congregation to join her for a trip to the movies or theater followed by a discussion over refreshments. Past outings have included TheoEd Talks, Thurgood, In The Heights, Children of Eden, True Story and The Age of Adeline.
Our Women’s Ministry welcomes women of all ages to grow in Christ through fellowship, mission and education. We know that laughter and coffee stimulate the mind and heart so both are plentiful when we gather as a group. Together we host bi-monthly Saturday breakfasts and programs, attend an annual Women’s Conference at Montreat, escape to the mountains for a weekend, and support one another and the world in countless other ways. There is no roster, fee or mandatory participation. Come as you are and join us!
Our Men’s Ministry gathers for breakfast at 7 am on the second Friday of the month to build friendships, nurture their faith and strengthen their connections with God and the church. A brief devotion and discussion follows breakfast with a non-negotiable end by 8:15 am. Men’s Ministry also lends their passion for grilling to Membership & Fellowship cookouts and occasionally does a neighborhood mission project when a church member is in need.
J.O.Y. (Just Older Youth 55+)
The J.O.Y. Group (Just Older Youth, 55+) is composed of “experienced” and active adults who meet on the third Wednesday of the month for coffee & fellowship, an engaging program and lunch. Programs include community advocacy, social justice, medicare education, music and hymns, and pet therapy. The J.O.Y. Group also takes time to play with the students from the PHPC Preschool and some members sign up to participate in reading time in the Preschool classes. J.O.Y. “On-The-Go” takes field trips to places like Fernbank and The Blue Willow Inn.
