Nursery: Provided during the 8:30 and 11:00 am worship services, as well as during 9:40 Sunday school. Infants are in room A-113 and steady walkers through 23 months are in room A-114.
Extended Session: Offered during the 8:30 and 11:00 worship services for 2 and 3 year olds in pre-school classrooms B103-105. Four year olds and kindergartners attend worship until after the Children’s Sermon. “Get Ready! Get Set! Worship!”: A worship education series offered each fall to 1st graders and their parents to help them learn how to worship well together. This series explores different parts of the worship service including baptism and communion (which in the Presbyterian Church (USA) is extended to all who have been baptized).
Children’s Sermons: A special time in worship where infants-5th graders are invited to come to the chancel steps to hear a story from one of the pastors’ which often relates to that day’s scripture reading and sermon.
Worship Bags and Spark Story Bibles: Distributed by volunteer Bag Buddies to 1st-5th graders who remain in worship following the children’s sermon, which occurs about midway through the service. The creative materials in the bags help kids connect with the Bible story for the day and what is happening in worship. We also have illustrated Spark Story Bibles for children to read during worship. They are available on the window sill at the rear of the sanctuary.
Bibles for 3rd Graders: A wonderful tradition in which children who have begun 3rd grade are given their own age-appropriate copy of the Bible during the 11 am worship service in the fall.
Acolytes: 3rd-5th graders help begin worship by lighting the candles on the communion table. Each fall, they participate in a half-hour training session following the 11 am worship service.
Children’s Choirs: The children of the church practice on various Sundays after the 11:00 am service and sing during worship on a few occasions throughout the year. Please click here for more.
