We have four Adult Church School classes that focus on topics and incorporate teaching/learning styles that enable our diverse faith community to explore scripture, theology and beliefs as they seek to be faithful followers of Christ. The Adult Classes meet every Sunday morning from 9:40-10:40 am, August-May:
Explorations (Room A104, downstairs) Teachers: Jerry Dean Weber, Dan Miller
Our class approaches weighty theological questions and faith issues by reading a book and engaging scripture in spirited conversation and discussion.
Shadetree Bible Study (Room A92, downstairs) Teachers: David Ashley, Doug Langdon, Clay Keller, Laura Freese, Dick LoPresti
In the Shadetree Bible Study, we are looking to see what Scripture says about controversial topics that we often avoid discussing. This class uses a question and answer format aimed at helping each of us learn from the thoughts and interpretations of each other.
Bible Discovery (Room A102, downstairs) Teacher: Patrick Miller
This class looks at Old and New Testament books to draw current day applications that help us to use the scriptures as a sort of flashlight for our individual faith walks. We always try to take the approach of providing a “so-what?” implication and current day relevance for our readings, along with a few Paul Harvey-like “rest of the story” elements to those readings. This year we will be looking at “What is a Presbyterian’s walk with God based on and look like?,” “What does a prayer-filled life look like?,” and “Taking a walk with the women of the Bible.”
Upgrade Class (Head of Staff’s Office, downstairs) Teacher: Head of Staff and Rev. Jody Andrade, associate pastor for congregational care
If you are looking for a way to feel more connected to our church, and what we offer here or if you are looking for a new member class, this is it. Meet with our pastors and learn more about PHPC.
